beaded necklaces are the epitome of 90s kid nostalgia reminding me of summers filled with making friendship bracelets at the pool, boxes filled with all sorts of colorful beads, and swapping these homemade jewels with all my friends.

of course the beaded necklace has always been around in its different forms (short, medium and long lengths pending the decade), i love seeing everyone of all ages rock their beads and charm this summer as a reflection of who they are and their personal style.

you might remember, one of the items on the summer bucket list was to create my own beaded necklace (your girl has a dream to be crafty). i decided today was the day to start digging into my jewelry making talents. i scooted over to Michael’s to start exploring beads, charms, different wires and tools i will need in order to create my beaded necklace workshop. i won’t lie, a part of me started to think i bit off more than i could chew (those tik tok tutorials make creating a beaded necklace look easy), but i gently reminded myself learning something new and being creative is the goal. but joke was on me, i realized looking at allllllllll the beads… i had no plan. i had zero idea what i wanted to create.

so i put everything back in it’s place on the shelf, came home and did some recon. i explored all the beaded necklace inspiration i could find. i’m talking color combinations, bead size, types of beads, look of charm, clasps, how to style a beaded necklaces to determine desired length, and the list goes on.

below is all the inspiration i pulled from bright chunky beads to fish charms to dainty beaded pearls to long necklaces to chokers. so much inspiration! but that’s the beauty of a beaded necklace….there is an infinite amount of combinations you can make and wear. it’s truly a timeless piece of jewelry that never truly goes out of style.

IMO the beaded necklace will always have a place in your jewelry box.
